Cancer Prevention
The
honest truth is that
many cancers can be prevented.
In fact, research shows that 1/3 of cancer deaths each year
can be attributed to diet and physical activity habits, with
another third due to cigarette smoking. (CA Cancer Journal
for Clinicians*) Because healthful individual behaviors are
most effectively improved with support and direction, we
encourage you to contact the Providence Cancer Center for
guidance in decreasing your cancer risk. Our cancer nutritional
therapist can guide your diet choices and we can direct you
to free smoking cessation classes with pharmaceutical support.
Not only can some cancers be prevented with nutrition and
exercise, but other cancers can be caught in early stages
through screening tools.
Hope begins here … with
prevention and screenings.
* Most cancer risk is not due to family heredity but to factors such as smoking
cigarettes, consuming certain foods and the kind of physical activity across
the lifespan.
CA Cancer Journal for Clinicians 2002;52:92-119.
* Evidence suggests that one third of the more than
500,000 cancer deaths each year could be prevented. CA Cancer
Journal for Clinicians 2002; 52:92-119."
